I Know Where I've Been (Music Friday)
A day late....but worth the wait (hey that rhymes).

I just discovered a musician who is new to me. Kirtana plays music that is meditative, prayer-like and puts you in a serene, wonderful mood. Many of her songs are poetic prayers. In a word, her music is "healing". I heard her opening for Eckhart Tolle on a video podcast and had to check her out.
Oh, you laugh now!
After my trip to Monticello last week, I've spent this week reflecting on my heritage. There has been lots of "Sounds of Blackness" playing on iTunes as I've been going through the pictures and working on my journal entry over the last five days.. I thought I'd share this one with you. It's an oldie but a goodie.
I love finding new musical talents that no one else knows about. I guess it was last year I heard Adrina Thorpe on a PodCast I was listening to. It was just an intro track for the PodCast. But, her angelic voice caught my ear and I had to find out who had this beautiful voice. I found her site, listened to some tracks and ended up buying the CD. (She isn't hard on the eyes either, guys).
I ended up getting her first CD which is wonderful. She is an independent artist and is in the process of raising money to put out her second CD. She needs help spreading the word about her music. So, hopefully, this will help her out a little. You can listen to cuts from her first CD at her MySpace site. Check it out.
She writes her own music and plays piano. I really respect people who sing their own tunes and who can play an instrument. It's hard to compare her voice to anyone. But, I guess she's a little like Sarah McLachlan. The nice thing is you don't have to take my word for it, you can give her a listen with just a click. I love the Internet.
Click on "Continue Reading..." to see a video from YouTube. The sound quality ain't great (the tunes on her MySpace site sound better). But, you can get a good idea of what she sounds like.
Speaking of panentheism (in the Heretics' Guide to Eternity post)... Thanks to Kevin for the link to this song. If you liked Joan Osborne's "What If God Was One of Us?", you might like this one. I won't be rushing out to buy the guy's album. But, I love the lyrics of this song- very clever. Once you reach the page, click on the button near the top to play the song.
